At the time of writing, Lara Williams‘ article about the #women_writers hashtag has been shared 970 times according to the counter on the left of the article. This article sparked a whirlwind week for my Twitter account, mainly with an overwhelmingly positive response to the idea of an online community for women. We can do more than the #women_writers Twitter chat and I’m going to be thinking about how to build it over the next few months. Whenever I receive any pushback, I’m going to come back here to remind myself of just how many and just how much people want to see this happen.
About Laurie Garrison
I have had successful careers in two disparate fields: lecturing in Victorian literature and digital marketing. As a lecturer, my monograph about sensation novels was shortlisted for the international ESSE prize and my edition of panorama programmes was reviewed in a two-page spread in the TLS. As a digital marketer, I worked with British Gas, O2, the Mozilla Foundation and I was regularly retweeted by HRH The Duke of York in my work for an educational nonprofit. Now I combine my expertise from both these fields to help writers use the online world to complete, publish and promote their books.
